WOMEN’S HEALTHNETWORK (WHN)CLIENT OPINION/INFORMATION SURVEY Introduction/Overview Project was undertaken at the request of the Women’s Health Network (WHN), part of a national network of early detection and cancer surveillance programs funded by the CDC. These programs strive to decrease incidence of breast and cervical cancer, and of other preventable chronic diseases by providing underinsured/uninsured women with knowledge, skills and services needed to reduce their risk for cancer and cardiovascular disease.
STUDY METHODOLOGY • Stratified, proportionate random sampling approach, to achieve equivalent representation of sites and clients within sites. • Survey conducted in4 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese, reflecting the principal languages spoken by WHN clients. * Mailed questionnairesto: clients who completed 12+ years of formal schooling. * Phone interviewsfor: clients with less than 12 years of schooling. • Data analyzed: • All mailed questionnaires returned within 6-weeks. • Phone surveys completed during a 3-week period.
NUMBER OF CLIENTS SURVEYED (N= 1348): • The final sample available for analysis included: • 62% English (n=855) • 16.3% Spanish (n=199) • 15% Portuguese (n=205) • 6.5% Chinese (n=89). • This constituted: • 396 (29.4%) phone respondents • 952 (70.6%) mailed questionnaire respondents • Overall response rate: 30% (range: 25% -35%).
