ESP 2010 • ESP needed = 178 months • ESP declared = 307 months • ESP accepted = 278 months • Accepted 56% more than needed ! • 2010 ESP needed includes only the present system • Upscope tasks were present but at zero • About 64 months were pledged for the upscope ESP meeting
What we did for the 2011 (I) • Review the ESP tasks procedure: • Using 2010 data as starting point • Working in harness with the old and new LV2 and LV3 coordinators • Involving Institution leaders in the analysis of the 2010 data and in theapproval of the 2011 ESP • Review all the “wrong” 2010 estimations: • Hardware chamber: 0 .v.s 9 • LV2 and LV3 management: 38 .vs. 18 • Prompt analysis: 45 .vs. 12 ESP meeting
What we did for the 2011 (II) • Simplify extremely the task structure: • Adding all the tasks really needed by the project • Using friendly task names • Helping institution leaders in the task assignments and then in pledging (future) • Monitor constantly the ESP at the RPC IB (future) • Keep constant (around 200) the months needed of the present system. • Add the upgrade tasks (installation in the 2013) ESP meeting
2011 summary • From 20 to 34 ESP tasks • 17 for the present system • 12 for the upgrade • 4 for LV2 management • We increased few crucial item thanks to the 2010 experience and reduced the # of shits (from 4 to 3 shiters per day) • Present system ESP needed = 200 months (15 FTE) • Upgrade ESP needed = 70 months (7 FTE) • Can CMS consider the RPC Operation Manager a central shifter ? ESP meeting
Conclusions • We learned a lot for the 2010 experience. • The new ESP procedures has been approved by the RPC IB. • 2011 ESP needed should be very close to what we really need for the operation of the project. • Upgrade has been included. • Upgrade needed will increase of about 30% in the 2012.
