ESSAY CHECKLIST BEFORE SUBMISSION Have you looked through and taken evidence from: Your work booklet? The bullet point notes? The Wiki? How you had your essay read by anyone else to see if they can spot anything for you? Have you checked the following in your essay? Knowledge Have you put each source and argument into context? Have you checked to see if you have spent too much time on contextual knowledge before going back to the argument? Have you covered the whole period of time? Sources Are all the sources relevant and linked to your argument? Have you explained how/why different sources have their views? Have you evaluated a range of sources? Have you explained properly? (No use of ‘bias’?) Conclusion Have you continued to link your work to your argument? Does your contextual knowledge and sources link to the argument? Have you answered the question throughout your essay? Links Have you made comparison between types of sources? (content/origin/purpose) Have you made links between sources based on contextual knowledge? Succinctness Have you removed any information that doesn’t support your argument? Have you made regular links to the question, avoiding narrative sections? Are all sources relevant and linked to the argument fully? Finally, have you filled in the Self Assessment sheet with a pen and highlighter? (excluding the last question “How similar are my views to those of my teacher?”)
