Site Ranking I gave Toyota Center 4 ½ stars for the Event Marketing and Booking Internship. It was an incredible experience! The full-time staff is extremely welcoming of new interns, there is plenty of hands-on projects to submerge yourself in, and the interns are given most of the same perks the full-time staff receive. I was assigned shows, given marketing materials, and told to run with it. This shows the trust this company has in their interns, which I believe improves the performance and willingness of the interns. 6
Words of Wisdom • Get involved. If there are events to volunteer for, do it. • Meet as many people as you can, and put your name and face out there. • Keep yourself busy! If you don’t have anything to work on, as to help someone else. • Always be professional, no matter what. 8
Internship Objectives • Participate in grassroots marketing efforts to promote Toyota Center events. • Keep Toyota Center events calendar and Facebook page updated. • Assist Group Sales Coordinator in answering/returning all phone calls and emails regarding ticket orders and basic group ticket questions, and enter ticket orders into Back Office, • Attend EMB, ACG, and cross-promotional brainstorming meetings and compile notes in a spreadsheet. • Assist in greeting radio personnel and setup on pad, and greeting working media, distributing credentials, collecting photo release forms, and escorting to show floor on the day of a show. 9
Daily Activities • Check emails, voicemails, and respond as necessary • Work the switchboard, check department mail, order department office supplies • Compile a list of places or events for mail-outs, flyering, or e-blasts for various concerts or shows. • Update Facebook fan page, check Facebook, twitter, and gmail accounts, and update napkin holders on any event days. 10
Project Description I headed up the grassroots marketing plan for The “World Famous” Lipizzaner Stallions. I was given posters and flyers and could do whatever I wanted with them. I researched different places in Houston that I thought would be beneficial to have them at and distributed them to raise event awareness. I also looked into various Houston horse club websites to see if they would post our event information, and found different horse events that occurred in Houston that we flyered at. I also assisted the Group Sales Coordinator in marketing for groups simultaneously. 11
