Transport: a challenging priority • Challenges: • Getting public transport back on track • Political will and commercial reality • Environmental challenge: Euro 1, 2, 3 etc… • Lack of interest from donors (concessionality requirement) • Opportunities: • Rapid implementation - high visibility • Good credit: cash collection and city service payments • Strong transition impact: procurement, corporate management • Sovereign guarantees not required

  4. Tbilisi Bus Project: Description • Loan EUR 3.1 million (linked to grant) • Second-hand large buses • 50 new midi-buses for hilly areas • Spare parts and workshop equipment • Bus Company Corporate Development Plan • Assistance for restructuring PT sector

Tbilisi Bus Project - Environment • Environmental Audit/Action Plan for Company • Environmental Analysis of EBRD funded investments • Implementation of standards to reduce bus emissions (EURO 2 standard versus 3) • Strengthening health and safety standards • Reducing mini-buses in the city centre • Supports the City’s Transport Strategy
