  2. The flag symbolizes the Kingdom's roots in the Great Arab Revolt of 1916, as it is adapted from the revolt banner. The black, white and green bands represent the Arab Abbasid, Umayyad and Fatimid dynasties respectively, while the triangle joining the bands represents the Hashemite dynasty. The star represents the seven verses of Surat Al-Fatiha, the first sura in the Holy Qura'n.

  3. Land • It covers 35,475 square mile. • It is about the size of Indiana. • The Jordan River flows through the Great Rift Valley. • Jordan is also referred to the East bank because it lies east of the Jordan River.

  4. Climate • Winter (November- April) is cold and wet. Some snow falls in the mountains • Spring-Summer (May –October ) are dry .

  5. The People and General attitudes • The Population is 6.2 million • Jordanians respect those who are good-natured, friendly ,and hospitable. • They warmly greet each other with a hand-shake.

  6. religion • 92% of Jordan’s people are Muslims. • Christians ( orthodox and catholic…etc) represent about 6 % of the population.

  7. Language • Arabic is the official language. • The Jordanian accent is the closest to the classical Arabic. The alphabet consists of 28 letters . English is taught as a second language .

Education system The structure of the educational system in Jordan consists of: • A two-year cycle of pre-school education. • Basic Education is a 10-year compulsory level of education. • The Secondary Education level consists of two years' study for students aged 16 to 18 which comprises two tracks academic(litrary or scientific) or vocational. At the end of the two-year period, students sit for the general secondary examination (Tawjihi) in the appropriate branch and those who pass are awarded the Tawjihi (General Secondary Education Certificate). The academic stream qualifies students for entrance to universities, whereas the vocational or technical type qualifies for entrance to Community Colleges or universities , provided they pass the two additional subjects.

Study books are standard books distributed by the Ministry of Education for all the stages • Students study English (as a foreign language) ,Arabic, Maths, physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, National education, P.E, Art, Islamic religion. • For Arabic, they have different books ( criticism , Reading for Comprehension, poetry , Prose, Literature ) In Each book they have different selected passages from here and there.
