Permaculture Australia supports individuals, organizations, and enterprises in the redesign of our world amidst climate change and resource depletion. We provide support, advocacy, and coordination to promote permaculture nationally and globally.

Permaculture Australia’s Vision Permaculture Australia supports permaculture people, organisations and enterprises to enable the re-design of our world in the face of climate change and resource depletion
Key directions • Participation in forums and events to promote permaculture nationally • Support and liaison between member individuals, organisations and enterprises via website and events • Efficient administration, communication and membership systems including employing a paid officer • Financial and legal accountability and transparency • Peak Body representation on behalf of the permaculture industry through Accredited Permaculture Training • Grant applications and fundraising to help defray costs and fund programs
Permaculture presence on affiliated groups/organisations • Opportunities for links between people with skills and those seeking skills • Liaison and promotional support for students, teachers/trainers and providers in all permaculture education offerings • PR, media and advocacy voice in response to global issues • Co-ordination of and support for organisation of bi-annual APCs in partnership with local organising committees • Mentoring and support for permaculture work nationwide through a representative council appointed annually at APCs
Representative Council – proposed functions • Developing policies, direction and priorities for action • Developing and implementing strategic plans with the board of directors • Advocacy and promoting PA, including links with allied organisations • Strategies for supporting grass roots initiatives • Coordinating and supporting National Permaculture Day • APC support • Fundraising • Support network for the board and working groups
Representative Council – proposed composition • About 15 to 25 people appointed for 2 years • Elders and old hands as mentors and memory • Young people and new permies for energy and fresh ideas • Geographic representation • Domain/professional representation • Working Group representation
