Present Perfect. Present Perfect. This tense is used to express an action which is over just now or completed today . In this tense the third form of the verb (V3-PP) is used. Formula for present perfect sentences :. Subject + auxiliary verb + verb in past participle.

Justtotalkaboutthingsthathappened a short time ago (veryrecentnews), e.g. I’vejustfinishedmyhomework.Weputjustbetweenhave/has and thepastparticiple. They are alwaysaffirmative. Alreadytotalkaboutthingsthathappenedbeforenoworhappenedsoonerthanexpected, e.g.Where’s Tom? He’salreadygone home. Weputalreadybetweenhave/has and thepastparticiple. They are alwaysaffirmative. Yet in negativesentencestosaythatsomething has nothappened up tothepresent time, e.g. He hasn’tarrivedyet. In questionstoaskifsomethingthatwasexpectedtohappen has happened, e.g. Has John arrivedyet? Weputyet at theend of thesentence.
