Work packages • WP 1: SWOT analysis, WIP • WP 2: Crystallizing the fruits of RTD, ECN • WP 4: BIPV, ECOFYS • WP 5: Socio-economic and financial issues, LIFE • WP 6: Enlarged EU market, WUT • WP 7: Developing countries, FONDEM
Objectives and results: WP 1 (SWOT) • Objectives: - Generate a SWOT analysis of the European PV business - Design alternative strategies for the European PV industry • Results: • SWOT analysis performed (input to other WPs) • Recomendations to the PV industry and RTD communities
Objectives and results: WP 2 (RTD) • Objectives: • 1.Finalisation of the EPIA Roadmap • 2. Create a common platform of discussion between Research and Industry with the aim to realize a unified vision for PV Industry development and perspectives • Define priorities short, medium and long term shared by RTD and Industry (with the crucial involvement of Eurec Agency)
Results WP 2 1. EPIA • Roadmap (launched in June 2003 during the 18th EU PVSEC in Paris) • 2.a. (EPIA-Eurec Agency) Establishement of a dialogue Platform between Industry and Research • 2.b.(EPIA and all RES) FP7 Setting RTD priorities on ST, MT and LT
Objectives and results: WP 4 (BIPV) • Objectives: • Make BIPV more visible and comprehensive to the big public via architects and construction industry • To enhance the interaction between PV industry and building industry • To develop ideas and networking for innovative, effective and architecturally pleasing systems for integration of PV • Explore new ideas and create perspectives for market development in the construction sector • To start an initiative for a European approach of preparing buiding standards
Results WP4 (BIPV) • Roadmap for the BIPV development (to be integrated into EPIA Roadmap and data may feed EU PV Technology Platfrom if requested)
Objectives and results: WP 5 Objectives: Socio economic dimension - Assessing prices and costs trends - Estimating internalities and externalities of different development scenarios Results: Cost and prices trends overview (silicon, cells, modules, modules)
Objectives and results: WP 5 Objectives: Financial dimension • Definition of new financial instruments adapted to PV projects • Results: Creation of an investment fund
Objectives and results: WP 6 • Objectives • To develop actions contributing to the EU market development. - Market support directives • To convince national decision makers for a PV market development at the EU level - support national associations activities - common positions on PV development
Results WP 6 • Establishment of communication channel amongst EU PV associations and encourage common actions ( Network of National Associations, EU PV policy group, FP 6 project) • Common position on support scheme mechanisms (feed in tariff position in coolaboration with all associations) • Common position paper with EREC on RES-e directive
Objectives and results: WP 7 • Objectives: • EU Energy centre (Target: Mediterranean countries) • Platform for discussion with WREC and Industry Associations JPIA and SEIA and donors • Promote Hybrid systems
Results: WP 7 Creation of the: • "Alliance for Rural electrification"(ARE) in partnership with the wind, biomass and small hydro associations
Dissemination activities • Web site creation • EPIA Newsletter (permanent info) • First results presented in 19th EU PV SEC in Paris • Intermediate results presented in 20th EU PV SEC in Barcelona
Follow-up • As PV Catapult represents large part of the EPIA strategy, all activities treated within this project are either externalised, transfered to the EU PV Technology Platfrom or followed- up within the EPIA current activities.
