100th Anniversary Celebration To deliver a purpose – driven celebration • That is sustained and coordinated • That allows us to share the powerful story of Scouting • That will engage Scouts and their families and friends from all levels of our program • That will re-connect and re-engage Scouting alumni
BSA Alumni Connection • National call to reconnect with Scouting Alumni • Rekindle enthusiasm for Scouting and the values it represents • Encourage alumni to re-engage with Scouting • There are over 3,700 Eagle Scouts in Monmouth County • www.bsaalumni.org
National Hall of Leadership • One-time opportunity to recognize extraordinary Scouting volunteers • Nominees can be Scouts, Leaders, Parents. Nominee must be living. • 12 nominees from Monmouth Council will be submitted to the Hall, one will be selected. • Submissions are taken online at www.scouting.org/100years
Generations Connection • To inspire families to trace their roots in Scouting • Each Scout is asked to create a Scouting Family Tree • Through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, BSA 100th Anniversary trees are available for families, groups, and communities to plant in honor of Scouting
A Year of Celebration, A Century of Making a Difference – Award Program • Scouts, leaders, and alumni can earn patches • 5 patch ribbons available in the areas of leadership, achievement, community service, character, and the outdoors
Adventure Base 100 • Traveling road show showcasing the finest the BSA has to offer our communities • When fully deployed a 10,000 square foot activity center • Includes a ropes course, IMAX style theatre, National Scouting Museum and Time Capsule, and Scouting informational booths • Local Tour Stop, November 20 & 21, 2010 in Florham Park, NJ • First Stop-Rose Bowl Parade, last stop – Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade
Window Display Contest • The opportunity for our local Scouting programs to showcase what they are doing in their community • Engages local businesses and chambers of commerce • Will coincide with the official birthdate of Scouting February 8, 2010
Scouting Spirit Initiative • Encourage all Scouting units to march in at least one local parade • In towns where no parade exists Scouting units are invited to the Memorial Day parade in Freehold • Our chance to show our communities how strong Scouting is.
Council Pinewood Derby • To bring the most recognized Cub Scout activity to the big stage • Will be run in conjunction with the Anniversary Celebration Weekend • Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos 1, and Webelos 2 divisions • Corporate Pinewood will feature cars built and sponsored by local businesses
Community Service Month • For all of Scouting to give back to the community • The challenge is to complete 10,000 hours of community service in one month • Will use the national www.goodturnforamerica.org reporting website. • Special recognition will be available for units recording service hours
A Pitch for Scouting • Partnership with all levels of Professional Baseball • Will include first pitch, seventh inning stretch, pre and post game activities • Full details will be available after the release of the 2010 Major League Baseball Schedule
Anniversary Celebration Weekend • The Monmouth County Celebration of the 100th Anniversary, April 16-18 2010, East Freehold Park • Scouts of all ages, their parents, family, and friends are invited along with the public • The weekend will feature the Council Pinewood Derby, Scouting Skills show and competition, Community Service midway (local service clubs and non-profits are invited to participate) and more • Activities for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts, and Explorers
Get In The Game - Geocaching • Scouts and leaders will participate in a National geocaching recruitment program • Each cache will include information on joining Scouting and Scouting's values • Special “Travel Bugs” will be created to travel the country and end up at the National Jamboree • Each council will have a number of special prizes to place in the cache locations
A Shining Light Across America – Jamboree 2010 Simulcast • Simulcast of 2010 Jamboree Arena Show • First time in Scouting's history that each and every Scout will be able to join in on one National event • Monmouth Council is working to secure a large arena venue for a gigantic viewing party
