Legislative framework Childcare Bill received Royal Assent in March 2016 =>Childcare Act 2016 Delivery Model Consultation (regulations and statutory guidance) launched 3rd April 2016, closing date 6th June 2016. Eligibility criteria • Both parents working (or sole parent in lone parent family) & both earn weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hrs at national minimum wage & less than £100,000 pa. • Includes employed, self-employed & zero hours contracts. Don’t need to actually work 16 hrs/wk, but earnings must equal at least 16 hrs work at national minimum wage. Childcare Strategy Service
Eligibility criteria • Both parents employed but one or both parents is temporarily away from workplace on parental, maternity, paternity or adoption leave or statutory sick pay • One parent employed & other parent has substantial caring responsibilities based on specific benefits received for caring • One parent is employed & one parent is disabled or incapacitated based on receipt of specific benefits Childcare Strategy Service
Joint Online Childcare Application • HMRC & DfE • Enable parents to apply online for additional free childcare • Simple customer journey for parents accessing free childcare & Childcare Tax Credits • Will link to Eligibility Checking service so LAs can check parents eligibility Childcare Strategy Service
