In the country there are many protected species. Here are some of them.
TheRed-breastedGoose (Brantaruficollis) is a globallythreatenedspecies. As of 2003-2006, itspopulationisestimatedatnotmorethan 38,000 birds.
Almost 80% of theRed-breastedGeesewinterintheterritory of Bulgaria – mainlyintheregion of CoastalDobrudja, aswellastheBurgaswetlandsandthemajorreservoirsintheUpperThracianLowland.
