  3. The Big Switch London’s buses, taxis and vans still mostly run on diesel. They shouldn’t. Air pollution from traffic causes huge health problems, and makes London a dirty, noisy city. That needs to change. Our plan shows how all of London’s buses and taxis, and most commercial vans, could run on electricity by 2020. It’s possible.

  17. The recharging network • Our plan: installation of 500 standard and 500 high capacity chargers per year from 2012 until 2016 • Annual cost of £11m, and a total final cost of £55m • Paid for by savings in bus fuel costs
