Smart Growth - Background • Committee endorsed by the County Council. • Smart Growth Committee presented a report containing 15 “keystone” and 49 additional recommendations to the County Council on September 8, 2005. • County Council had workshop/public hearing on November 10, 2005 and March 17, 2006.

  3. Currently Implementing • Land Acquisition of critical areas (Map “A”). • Senate Bill 360: School Facilities, Transportation Concurrency, FIAM. • Scenic Roads. • Local Plans for Communities of SpecialInterest.

  4. Implementation Study in Process • Cluster subdivisions: both Urban and Rural Clusters. A density bonus is included. • Diversification of uses within agriculture areas.

  5. Further Implementation Efforts Needed • Smart Growth Vision. • Incorporating Map “A” & “B” concept into current planning program. • Primary and Secondary water/sewer service areas. • Annexation areas. • RLSP • Affordable/Workforce housing.

  6. Next Steps • Continue to implement SB 360 and related programs. • Continue to refine items proposed for implementation. • Seek further input and direction on vision, Map “A” & “B” etc.
