  2. Initial development • The low developed on 27th January over the Atlantic ocean as a cut-off low.

  3. IR animation During the next days the system acquired some tropical/subtropical characteristics: hybrid storm

  4. SST conditions • Although the low evolved over low SST (21-22ºC), far away from typical tropical values, these were 1.2ºC warmer than usual for this time of the year.

  5. Shallow warm core It developed a shallow warm core during the life cycle.

  6. Hybrid chracteristics Since 3rd February the low evolved between Canary Islands and the Iberian Peninsula. GFE forecast also indicated some hybrid features during this period.

  7. Thunderstorm activity • Significant heavy thunderstorm activity over the area.

  8. 24 hours rainfall

  9. Evolution after Canary Islands When moving to the Gulf of Cadiz the system retained some hybrid characteristics.

  10. Sevilla radar image When the storm arrived to the Iberian Peninsula, the small scale cyclonic circulation was still evident.
