  3. Fats • Provides energy and fatty acids • Helps kids develop correctly • Maintains healthy skin & hair • Types: • Unsaturated fats (Good) • Saturated fats (Bad) • Trans fats (Worst) • 30% of diet • Trans fats increase risk of heart disease • Sources: • Meat, dairy, fish, junk food, etc…

  4. Protein • Makes up muscles, organs, & immune system • Builds and maintains body tissues • Types: • Complete (all amino acids) • Incomplete (some amino acids) • Broken down into amino acids • 20% of diet • Sources: • Meat, dairy, eggs, etc…

  5. Fibre • Combats colon cancer, diabetes & heart disease • Helps clean out intestines • Types: • Soluble (keeps bad things out of blood) • Insoluble (absorbs water) • 20 g per day • Not completely digested • Sources: • Fruit, vegetables, grains, etc…
