Sight Words • Words that are immediately recognized • 5 minutes of practice daily can greatly improve reading skills! • Examples: said, the, and, what, through, been
ELA Homework • Reading every night • Independent or with an adult • Practicing sight words 2x/week • Writing 2x/week
PBIS at Phelps Luck • Recognizing positive choices • Staff and students build positive relationships • Using common language throughout the school • Grade level incentives and school incentives
PBIS at Phelps Luck • Fabulous Falcons & Dojo points are used when students demonstrate expected behaviors. • Falcons & Dojo points are redeemed for incentives in the classroom. Classroom incentives examples: • Extra computer time • Special classroom job • Lunch bunch
Steps for Soaring to Success! • Step 1: Green Goal Level • Step 2: Student is given a reminder(s). • Step 3: Student loses 1 Dojo point. • Step 4: Student loses 2nd Dojo point: • YellowStop and Think Level • Student is moved to a new area and given 3-5 minutes to make required behavior change. • Stop and Think form will be completed with teacher and sent home. • Step 3: RedOffice Support Level
Class Dojo • We will be using ClassDojo as part of our PBIS program. • We will also be focusing on building important life skills such as working hard and participating.
Why use ClassDojo? • ClassDojo is the easiest way to see your child’s progress in class. • Teachers be sending classroom updates and photos to you through ClassDojo, too!

How can parents support PBIS and ClassDojo? • Talk with your child about what it means to respect self, others and property at home. • Focus on the positive things that your child does at home and talk about why these behaviors are important to you. • Sign up for ClassDojo! • Check your child’s points and discuss their points with them daily.
