Science Safety Contract • According to St. Paul Public Schools, students need to have a signed safety contract in order to participate in science activities. • The only chemicals they will be using are soap and water.

Spanish Expectations • Starting in September students will use basic classroom words and phrases in Spanish. • Monday, January 12: Students will speak only Spanish to adults and peers.
Goals for Homework • Students need to read at least 15 minutes each day • Practice what students are learning at school • Provide activities for parents to work with child and see their child’s progress • Build a homework routine that includes a place and time to do homework • Increase student’s personal responsibility and ability to work independently • Learn to read and write high frequency spelling words

Birthdays • Please check with the teacher before sending birthday treats. Due to the district wellness policy treats are limited to once a month. • First grade classes will meet outside on the last Wednesday of the month to sing to all students with birthdays and celebrate with 10 minutes of extra recess.
