Welcome to Newbridge College! Dean is here to support your success. Follow the rules of Transition Year, keep your TY folder and pens with you, and be where you should be at all times. Housekeeping includes attendance, uniform, lockers, and no smoking/vaping. Parents play a key role in attendance, and arrival time is suggested at 8:20 am. Remember, uniform pride is important, with specific guidelines outlined. Lockers are your responsibility, and smoking/vaping result in automatic Saturday detention. Make use of the E-Diary for communication and monitoring progress. Year group spirit and extracurricular activities promote a sense of belonging. Wellbeing, empathy, and safety are prioritized, with a focus on positive mental health and combating bullying/cyberbullying. Parents are encouraged to monitor technology usage for student wellbeing. Attendance / Punctuality Parents – a key role in students attendance 8.20am – suggested arrival time 8.40am – school begins After 8.50am – Late sign in at enquiries Unexplained absence from class will mean an automatic Saturday detention
Signing – in/out Responsibility Safety N.B: Students give note to Dean in morning only – please minimise this. Use smart card to sign out at Enquiries at the agreed time. Sign out by own parent only otherwise.
Uniform Responsibility Pride Uniform as outlined in the Code of Behaviour Black leather shoes Non uniform items not allowed (placed in locker at 8.40am-3.40pm) Outerwear: College fleece or College jacket only Piercings: No facial piercings (noserings, eyebrow studs or lip rings)
Lockers New Lockers and Locks for TY’s. Lock are the students’ responsibility. If lost, there is a €23 fine to replace it.
Smoking and Vaping Very large issue in the country recently. Parental assistance is vital with this. Automatic Saturday detention for anyone who is caught smoking or vaping.
