Critical People to Know at your Event • FIRST Technical Advisor (FTA) & Assistant (FTAA) –Field/robot issues, “it worked in the pits!” • Lead Robot Inspector (LRI)-construction rules compliance, robot doesn’t work and you blame the mechanics/electrical/pneumatic system, inspection, • Head Referee-game rules compliance, Match calls (Drive Team see immediately-not later) • Control System Advisor (CSA)-robot doesn’t work and you blame the control system. • Pit Administration Supervisor-team support & help, first aid, registration, shipping • Lead Team Queuer- will hunt down your team if they don’t show up at the field on time • Spare Parts staff - just because KOP parts break • Machine Shop staff - just because non-KOP parts break • People you will meet at least once • Game Announcer-proper pronunciation and name of team/robot, usually comes looking for you. • Chairman’s Award Judges – (not rookies, but next year) schedule and make presentation • Pit Judges – determine many other awards based on your interaction with them • Shipping – at crate events or if shipping to championship after winning at a Bag & Tag event • People you might never meet but might have reason to • Regional Director (RD)- she’s (or he’s) the boss • Event Manager – where’s my banner?, Harassment/discrimination/abuse/crime/security threat • Lead Safety Advisor- unsafe conditions, smoke, fire, sparks, hazardous spill • Venue Safety-smoke, fire, & spill response, includes local Fire Marshal • Judge Advisor-Sometimes Chairman’s presentation scheduling/rescheduling, rare judging issues • Volunteer Coordinator-team members/parents volunteering to help an event report to this person

Field Guide to Identifying Critical Event People • Most event volunteers wear a white game logo t-shirt and a large name/position tag around their neck • Some key & principle volunteers wear headsets. • FTA: Dark blue denim vest with lots of pockets • LRI: Black mesh vest & neon yellow cap • Head Referee: Yellow referee jersey • Safety Advisor: Dark green collared shirt • Regional Director/Event Manager: Black collared shirt (sports jacket optional) • Judges: Royal blue collared shirt Head Ref Judge FTA Event Mgr RD Safety Advisor LRI RegVol
