  2. Function of packaging • Protects film: • during: • transport • storage • from: • light • mechanical damages • mechanical pressure • humidity • dust contamination

SECUPAC: Advantages • Immobilization of film sheets • Easy manipulation (rigid block) • No risk for black line abrasion • Bag is stronger, better protection • Absolute humidity barrier • Reduce amount cardboard waste (volume and height) • Stack height is (depending size) 48 or 2 x 38 boxes per pallet • Cosmetics

  4. Bag protects against: • light • humidity exchange • friction • damage • 23 µm PET • 7 µm Aluminum • 12 µm OPA • 80 µm black LDPE Film Inner packaging Shrink foil dust separator / collector Polypropylene plate (x 2) protects against damages improve stiffness

  10. Inner packaging: set-up • Sizes: ≥ 30 x 40 cm and ≤ 26” x 32”: Secupac (Q1 ’05) ≤ 26” x 32” and < 80 x 110 cm: Secupac (Q2 ’06) other sizes  packing remains unchanged • Packaging: ≤ 20” x 24” per 100 sheets > 20” x 24” per 50 sheets

Recommended working methodTransport, storage & unpacking • Transport and store film horizontally • Transfer film from warehouse to grey zone • Open the sleeve in the grey zone and remove it • Open the shrink foil gently and remove it • The shrink foil is not antistatic, so it attracts and holds dust (prevent contamination of the inner packaging) • Don’t crumple up the shrink foil to avoid the dust from getting airborne • Take the inner packaging to plotter room

Recommended working methodAcclimatizing & loading • Acclimatize pack per pack unopened for at least 8 hours • Open the inner packaging (bag) (re-use label) • Take the top PP sheet away and remove it • Load the plotter with as many sheets as you can handle • Avoid: scratching, folding, cracking pressure marking • Store the remaining film sheets in a film safe
