1. Joining Others That Enjoy The Same Activities As You Do No matter the activity, people that share an interest, a hobby or a passion will often get together to enjoy it. It is true for any cultural activity, but also for sports people whether it is tennis, swimming, fishing – or hunting. All of these activities are often best enjoyed in the company of others, and therefore it makes sense to meet up with them, to form clubs. Hunters, as an example, are often at their happiest when they’re out there in the field, in the open or in the bush stalking their prey – in the company of their family, their kids, or their friends and mates. However, it is important to join with a group of people whose company you enjoy, a group of people that get along well and whose goals are similar. Therefore, once you’re ready to become a member of a hunting club, do a little bit of research by talking to others, by looking at the options on the internet. You want to be a member of a club that you will be able to spend many seasons with; it makes little sense to change every year. Members of hunting clubs, whether in the US, the UK or elsewhere, will always have to consider those issues pertinent to their own experience. Let’s take, for example, clubs that are formed for hunting in the Southeast of the US in states such as Virginia and Alabama, well-known and well-supported areas among the hunting fraternity as they offer great choices of birds and buck – and often in lovely surrounds perfect for raising good quality birds and deer. They exist for the benefit of those that want to enjoy their pastime, even their passion. Some clubs have been in existence for many years and will therefore have limited opportunities for new members whereas others may welcome, or need, more members. Therefore, decide if you feel at home with a group that has been together for many years – or whether you would rather join a more recently formed club. When you have done some homework, also be sure of at least the following:  Join a group that shares your passions and goals, for instance in terms of deer management and harvesting of game. For many hunters, this is an important issue as they understand that management of populations leads to quality animals, and if they join a club with a similar outlook they will most likely always approach a land owner to whom these principles are dear and in place for the lease they want.

2. It further means that they may be able to hunt in a well-controlled environment year after year. Of course, not all hunters share the same ideals. Maybe you should best stay away from those that do not share your beliefs and join a club where you will feel comfortable about everybody’s motives and ideals.  Make sure you join a group or club where you do not have to worry about the budget. Some leases and hunting opportunities are more expensive than others. Plan your break from the office to suit you financially and not be a burden.  It is extremely important you understand – and abide by - the rules and regulations of the club you join. Different clubs have their own, specific reasons – in addition to the rules, you may have to obey when you and the other members buy a lease.  Always join a club that applies for or buys leases in an environment you enjoy, one with great access to quality animals, an area or region that you feel at home in.  Join a club where members have good knowledge about what to look for before they buy a lease. Find out first, before you join, what they know about different properties in the area, about the presence of deer and other animals, about the likelihood of leaving with quality buck after the hunt. Joining the club of your choice does not have to be difficult. Simply decide what type of club appeals to you once you’ve done some research.
