  1. English 10 - 3/4/13 • Do you like brainstorming? Why or why not? • What do you call a cow with no legs? • Bird feed – Transmission (feed) from an earth-orbiting satellite (bird). Goals – Remind ourselves of the process for on-demand essays. Review what they are evaluating and give them what they want. Write Essay. Homework – Finish essay. Don’t forget to study for vocab. quiz #24.

Choose one of the following positions and support it: a) Ban them! b) No restrictions c) Some guidelines. • What were Mr. O’Connor’s three hardest years? • Annie Oakley – Free pass to the theatre. Goals – Examine elaboration and layering strategies. Look at Anchor essays to compare to your own essay. Homework – None, unless.

  3. English 10 - 3/6/13 • You have been asked to be on a committee to review your high school’s rules. Choose one rule that needs to be revised, added, or eliminated. Free write or brainstorm. Develop a thesis with a big idea and a controlling idea. • Why did the clown dump a bucket of water on the class? • Camerature – a distorted photograph; a photographic caricature. Goals – Examine anchor essays. Compare exposition to persuasion. Begin persuasive essay. Homework – Complete a draft of your HSPE persuasion essay.

  4. English 10 - 3/7/13 • Recently, a citizen’s group proposed a change to the rules for obtaining a driver’s license. The group has proposed that high school students have at least a “B” average in order to get a driver’s license. Take a position on this proposal. Write a letter to the editor of your local paper to persuade voters to agree with your position. • I intend to live forever… so far so good! • Spermologer – one who gathers seeds. Goals – Examine anchor essays. Evaluate your essays to see how to make them into fours. Check conventions to make them into twos. Use the check sheet or litany. Homework – None.

Goals – Complete Vocab. #24. “Mystery Flight.” Review strategies for taking Multiple choice tests. Practice answering sample questions. Homework – None.
