  2. Metodický list DUM seznamuje studenty se základními informacemi o státních svátcích v České republice v první polovině kalendářního roku formou prezentace . DUM procvičuje získané vědomosti pomocí cvičení v závěru prezentace. Součástí DUM je i řešení cvičení. Snímky se mohou využít k souvislému vypravování o jednotlivých státních svátcích. Obrázky slouží k popisu a zdůvodnění jejich souvislosti se státními svátky. Inovativnost materiálu spočívá ve využití ICT techniky.   7. May Day • 30 April/1 May, • a magic night, • originally a pagan holiday, • a maypole is put up in villages, • people believed witches met that night, • people make bonfires, • they jump over them to be fertile and young.

  8. Liberation Day • 8 May, • a public holiday, • the liberation of Czechoslovakia from Nazi Germany, • the end of WWII in Europe, • politicians, veterans lay wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Saints Cyril and Methodius Day • Byzantine Greek brothers, • became missionaries among the Slavic peoples, • influenced the cultural development, • were called “Apostles to the Slavs“, • created the alphabet used for Slavonic manuscripts, • still used by many languages, • today national saints. 3)

Jan Hus Day • 6 July, • a Czech priest, philosopher, reformer, • a master at Charles University, 4) • considered to be the first church reformer, • fought againts the doctrines of the Catholic Church, • burned at the stake on 6 July 1415, • Hussite wars followed (1420 – 1435), • 90% of people followed the teaching of Hus. 5)
