  3. “Roadblocks” are anything (known or unknown) that hinder our prayers from being answered

  4. Psalm 51:12 (NIV) • Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

  5. Roadblock # 1: Prayerlessness

  6. James 4:2(NIV) • 2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.

  7. Philippians 4:6(NIV) • 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

  8. Roadblock # 2: Wrong motives

  9. James 4:3 (NIV) • 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

  10. John 14:13 (NIV) • 13 And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

  11. Psalm 37:4 (NIV) • Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

  12. Roadblock #3: Sin in the Heart or Life

  13. Isaiah 59:1-3 (NIV) • Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. • 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not heart

  14. 3 For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. • Your lips have spoken falsely, and your tongue mutters wicked things.

  18. Roadblock #4: A wrong treatment of our mate

  19. 1 Peter 3:7 (NIV) • 7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

  21. Proverbs 21:13 (NIV) • 13 Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered.

  22. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NIV) • 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

  23. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
