  5. Pros The subgrade at the existing site has an adequate layer of compacted caliche base which is suitable for concrete or asphalt paving. Site is situated along major arterial streets & avenues Relative flat site with adequate drainage Land has been acquired by LISD and is available for development Zoning is appropriate for warehouse or transportation facility. Cons Possible delays or reroutes due to Union Pacific Railroad trains blocking certain intersections Potential environmental and safety concerns due to proximity to commercial cargo loaded on railcars (chemicals spills or derailments) Proposed Transportation Department SiteSta. Isabel Ave & Park Street • Timeline: Completion by December 2003
