APEX ReportMarch 31, 2010 Time Meeting, April 6, 2010 Fulvia Pilat
Ramping near 1/3: progress Schoefer, Bai + 3rd integer team • Developed ramp Au104third2 (no final squeeze, smallest beta* ~ 1.8 m). • Yellow to top energy twice with 111 bunches (~1e9 ppb injected). Vertical tune of 0.325 (delta = 0.008). • The post-transition ramp (when we are near resonance) is nearly lossless. • Major stumbling block is blue transition loss (unrelated to resonance).
Concerns • Chroms were tuned to be quite small. There may be stability problems with increased per bunch intensity. • BLM’s are not entirely color-specific, are there problems to be found with 111 in both rings? THEREFORE, IT WOULD BE NICE IF • We could probe the margin: • Move chromaticities toward +2 • Move tune toward 0.333 Proposal at the scheduling meeting: Wednesday April 14 For the final 1/3 integer development
