  1. 2017-2018 Allen ISD Cheer Tryout Meeting **Please make sure you have checked in at your campus’ table**

  3. Required Forms Due • February 22nd by 4:00 PM • Delivered to the front office of the campus candidate is trying out for 2 Day Cheer Tryout Clinic • Lowery Freshman Center Gym • March 13-14th from 4-6 PM • It is mandatory to attend both days to be eligible for cheer tryout Cheerleading/Mascot Tryout • March 18th • Lowery Freshman Center • 8:30 AM- 12:00 PM Summer Cheer Camp • July 31st- August 2nd • 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM • Curtis Middle School Important Dates:

  4. A student is eligible to try out for cheerleader or mascot if the following conditions are met: • Student has passed all subjects the preceding grading period (T2) • Student has not served a disciplinary placement (ISS, OSS, DAEP, JJAEP) • At the time of the tryout, the student is enrolled in the Allen Independent School District and is trying out at the school where the student is registered to attend for the next school year Eligibility

  5. Commitment • Positive Attitude in AND outside of cheer • Teamwork • Self discipline • Arriving on time to events-- every time • Prepared (with proper attire) • Ready to work **Grades are based on performances, both in class and at events **ALL of these are MANDATORY if you plan on being an Allen ISD cheerleader Expectations

  6. Must be able to attend summer camp • July 31st - August 2nd • Location: CMS • Vacations? Plan them before July 31st • READ THE GUIDELINES! Be prepared to abide by the guidelines. (Seriously, read every page ) Expectations cont.

  7. Involved • Support cheerleaders, coaches, and program • Positive example • Positive attitude • Able to get cheerleader to and from games on time in appropriate attire Expectations for parents

  8. A detailed list of items expected to be purchased should have been picked up at your campus’ table • Camp Fee is an estimated additional $150 • Any questions regarding cost should be addressed with your coach after the presentation Estimated Costs

  9. Strength & Conditioning • Big Sis/Little Sis • Occasional Extra Practices • Girls will cheer at - • Football(home games only) • Basketball (home district only) What to expect this year

  10. 7th & 8th Grade Cheerleaders • Maximum of 20 members • Chosen by 3 certified judges • Summer Camp REQUIRED • Enrolled in Cheer class period • Occasional after school practices 7th & 8th Grade Mascots • Maximum of 2 • Summer Camp required • Not enrolled in Cheer class period • Occasional after school practices to plan pep rallies Squads

  11. Monday 3/13Mandatory4:00- 6:00 PM (LFC) • Tuesday 3/14Mandatory 4:00- 6:00 PM (LFC) • Saturday 3/18Tryouts 8:30 AM- 12 PM(LFC) **All events are closed to public **2016-2017 Scores will be posted on each school’s website after all tryouts have been completed Clinic week

Tryouts will be held at Lowery Freshman Center • EMS: Check in at 8:30 AM– Judging begins at 9 AM • FMS: Check in at 9:30 AM– Judging begins at 10 AM • CMS: Check in at 10:30– Judging begins at 11 AM • Attire • Solid Black Soffee Shorts • White T-Shirt (no logo) • White Shoes with white socks • Hair completely pulled back in ponytail • Bow appropriate to school colors • No nail polish or jewelry Day of Tryouts- March 18

Cheerleaders • 200 point maximum score • Individual – • Running Tumbling/Spirited Entrance • Jumps (Toe Touch, Pike, Front Hurdler (right or left side) • Cheer • Standing Tumbling • Group of 4 – • Dance (Fight Song) • Chant Mascots • 200 point maximum score based on a 2 minute skit • Creativity • Use of Props • CharacterDefinition/Exaggeration • Crowd Appeal • Dance • Incorporation of Music • Spirit and Enthusiasm • Overall Impression Selection Criteria
