What is FP7? • 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development • 2007 – 2013 • Budget of over €50 billion • Two main strategic objectives: • to strengthen the scientific and technological base of European industry; • to encourage international competitiveness while promoting research that supports EU policies.
FP7 Success Rates (from 2007/08) • 33,919 eligible proposals submitted • €56.7 billion requested • 5,477 proposals retained for funding (worth EUR 10 billion) • Overall success rate: 16 % • Co-operation: 18% • Ideas: 4% (skewed by first starting grant call) • People: 29% • Capacities: 18% • UK: second highest participation after Germany – 2,546 participations worth EUR 910 million • UK overall success rate: 23%
