  4. CPE Workshop Case Study • New tool this year: • UK Alert – new emergency notification system • Students, faculty, staff, community …. And media sign up at www.uky.edu/UKalert • Utilizes several devices to deliver safety message: • Text • VM

  5. CPE Workshop Case Study • E-mail • Cell phone • Land line • Pagers • Fax • System purchased from Nashville-based W.A.R.N (wide area rapid notification)

CPE Workshop Case Study • Designed for use in immediate or potential threat to all or part of campus community • Examples include: active shooter, potential catastrophic weather • University-wide emergency • Occupants of specific buildings can be contacted if emergency contained to specific area

CPE Workshop Case Study • UK Alert Web Site provides detailed information, FAQ and allows visitors to register • Notifications can be received in multiple ways and in order of preference • I get phone call on cell and at home as well as e-mail • Participants – through log-in/password system – can update and change their contact information

  8. CPE Workshop Case Study • On-line registration easy (I did it) and only takes a few minutes • Constant promotion necessary • Incentives offered for early participants: four Apple iPhones given away in random drawings • Nearly 13,000 people people now registered
