I would like to thank the organizers for the invitation to report on the Brazilian National Programme on Elimination of Silicosis, in particular to Dr. Igor Fedotov from the ILO for his continuos stimulus and support for this and other programmes related to ORD throughout these years.

Silicosis has been the main pneumoconiosis in the country. We have gathered data of silicosis ocurrence from different economic sectors and this slide presents a short resume of some of the findings...........
The larger number of silicosis cases comes from gold mining and it is not quoted here because it was never published as na epidemiological report of this mining sector.
