  2. BACKGROUND • The number of sick listed were among the highest in Europe during the nineties. • The government initiated several steps in order to decrease the sick leaves • structural changes • guidance instruments • education

Multi disciplinary team • Different professionals measure the patient's symptoms based upon their profession: - GP - occupational therapist - physiotherapist- social worker • Using standardized instruments for measurements • The patients get their situation viewed from different perspectives, giving a general picture of the problem

Conclusions • Sick listed have decreased • Much easier to take the right actions from the very beginning • Everyone, regardless of gender, get the same screening • Patients are very pleased with the meeting and / or to be analysed by the team • Good basis for estimation of sick listed, for the doctor as well as for the Social Insurance agency • Shorter administrative time before decisions are made with regard to sick listed
