Drawing Conclusions When good readers use details in the text to make a smart guess about something the author does not state, the reader draws a conclusion.
Example 1: John and Katie walked into the lobby and handed their ticket to the man. Before they went inside and took their seats, they stopped and got some popcorn and soda. They left the refreshment stand and went to a special room. Once they were seated, the lights went off, and almost for two hours, they had a great time!
The reader can tell that the story takes place in… Look at the details in the story to determine where the character’s in the story were.
