About aqueducts • Aqueducts were built in the in the 3rd century by the Romans. • Most aqueducts were built out of stone, bricks and concrete. • The romans built lots of different aqueducts around Rome. • Aqueducts were used to carry water to roman city's and towns. • They also used the water from the aqueducts for baths for the rich and poor.
Names of aqueducts • (Aqua Appia) built in 311b.c. (length) 10 miles. • (Aqua Marcia) built in 144b.c. ( length) 40miles.
Fact file • Most aqueducts were around 68 km long and provided 2/3rds of the city with water. • The combined length of all the aqueducts made in Rome is 800km It took 5 – 10 years to build an aqueduct. Over the span of 500 years the romans built up to 11 aqueducts all up to 30 meters tall.

Why the romans fell. • When the Gaul's attacked Rome, they blocked the water supply by cutting the aqueduct of from the lakes, rivers and streams. So without the Romans getting any water the city soon fell.
