Pre-requisites For installing • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 • Web/Application Server : • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 • Microsoft IIS 6.0 in IIS 6.0 worker process isolation mode with Microsoft ASP.NET installed and enabled. • NTFS File System
Pre-requisites For installing • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 • Database Server : • Any OS version that supports MS SQL Server 2000 or 2005 • MS SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2000 with Service Pack 3 • The database server does not have to be dedicated to Sharepoint. • Optionally, the database server can be a SQL Cluster.
Pre-requisites For installing • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 • Hardware Recommendations: • Web Server and Application server : • Dual Processor computer with processor clock speed of 2.5GHz or higher and a minimum of 2GB RAM. • Database Server : • Dual Processor computer with processor clock speed of 2.0GHz or higher and a minimum of 2GB RAM.

Hints and Tips • Always proceed with an “advanced” and “Complete” installation. • Install programs and data files to different Hard Drives.
2- Using The Sharepoint Installation And Configuration Wizard
Step Requirements • SQL Server name • Configuration Database name ( i.e. SERVER_Sharepoint_Config) • Farm Service Account with Create DB and Security Admin rights on the SQL Server. • Security Mode (NTLM or Kerberos )
Hints and Tips • Establish a naming convention for all your database. • Ex. : COMPANY_MOSS_Config • COMPANY_MOSS_PORTAL_Content • COMPANY_MOSS_MYSITE_Content • COMPANY_MOSS_SSP_Content • COMPANY_MOSS_SSP_DB • COMPANY_MOSS_SSP_SEARCH_DB
3- Configuring and Administering Central Administration Operations
Step Requirements • Smtp mail server address • Service’s list to run on the server • Search Services Search Account • Farm Administrator’s list • Directory name and location for Diagnostic Logging • Directory name and location for Usage Analysis • Backup files Location
Hints and Tips • When Configuring The server operations, use the “N” approach. • Once Operations are configured, test you backup/restore before going any further in your installation. • Backup after each section is configured ( Operations, Applications, Shared Services )
Step Requirements • Registered DNS names for you SSP and “My Site” Web site • Application pool name defined for your SSP and “My Site” • SSP Service Account • “My Site” Service Account • Database names for SSP and “My Site” Content • Search Services Search Account • Database names for SSP Data and SSP Search. • Index Server server name.
Hints and Tips • Before creating your SSP, make sure you have the Windows Search Services and Office Search Services up and running in the Central Admin Operations Console. • Use the embedded “web application creation” from the SSP creation screen for the SSP and My Site Web Application. • All Web Application should have their own service accounts.

Hints and Tips • Use the “N” Approach for configuring. • If you have multiple Web Applications, remember to switch from one to another to configure the settings for each of them. • The last web application you select from the web application list is always the one settings initially applies to. • Make sure you enable the “Self-Site Management” feature for your “My Site” web application. • Backup the system from the Operations console.
Step Requirements • Search “Crawl” Account • Profile import defined schedule ( Full, differential ) • Content crawl defined schedule ( Full Differential ) • Audiences Compilation Schedule • Defined “Service Personalization Permissions” • Trusted File Locations for Excel Services.
Hints and Tips • Configure the “Search Settings” last. • For everything else, use the “N” approach. • When configuring your content sources and crawl schedules, select the “Start full crawl of this content source” before exiting”. • Test the searches and “My Site” creations.
AdditionalSteps • Configure the “Master Site Directory” and the “Site Directory Links scan” in the Admin Console Operations Page. • Depending on options purchased, verify that you have all your features enabled on all sites. • In the “Office Sharepoint Shared Services” section of the Application Management page, click on “Services Enabled on this farm” and verify that there are no errors. • Using the Scheduler and stsadm.exe, Create and enforce backup jobs.
