Introduction into game • First matched – March 3, 1875, Montreal • Game divided in 3 periods • Each period – 20 min (with small breaks between) • 6 player per team (5 skaters + goal keeper) • International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), 1908 (formation)
Tips for hockey players • Bend knes • Head up, eyes forward • Balance • Off ice skate practice • Skate maintence • Lightness on skates • Fast leg recovery • Learn to skate backwards • Have good attitude!
Physical laws and principles • Friction • Center of mass and center of gravity • Newtons‘ laws • Energy transfer (collision) • Linear motion • Momentum
Motoric skills • Stamina - The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and utilize energy. • Strength and power - The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force. • Flexibility - the ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint. • Speed - The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement. • Coordination - The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement. • Balance - The ability to control the placement of the bodies center of gravity in relation to its support base. • Accuracy - The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity.
