Definition Similar to ice hockey, Ice sledge hockey is a fast-paced and physically demanding game. It Is played by athletes with a physical disability in the lower part of the body.
Terms • Pick - The spike end of the ice sledge hockey stick used to propel the sledge across the ice. • Teeing -A player who charges an opponent or who charges the opposing goalkeeper in the crease, using any part of the front radius of his or her sled, is assessed a penalty. • Competitors - Like hockey, each team has six players on the ice, including the goaltender. Teams are comprised of a maximum of 15 players per team, including two goaltenders • Stick - Ice sledge hockey players use two sticks made of wood, plastic or aluminum, with a hooked blade at one end for puck handling and shooting, and a pick at the other end for pushing off the ice. The goaltender may have an additional pick at the end of his or her stick and may use an additional stick with a blade or a trapper glove with teeth. • Ice Sledge Hockey - Similar to ice hockey, ice sledge hockey is a fast-paced and physically demanding game. It is played by athletes with a physical disability in the lower part of the body.

Athlete Joe Howard plays forward U.S. Olympic for the sledge team. He lives in Kingston , Massachusetts . His birthday 5/22/66. He currently play for Northeast passage/ UNH Wildcats . Joe is a double amputee after being hit by a train when he was 15 teen years old.
