Letter hunt – write the letters in your child’s name clearly in lower case on squares of card board or paper. Blu tac them around the house to create a letter hunt. Can they make any CVC words from their name?. I spy with my little eye, something beginning with ‘a’.

  1. Letter hunt – write the letters in your child’s name clearly in lower case on squares of card board or paper. Blu tac them around the house to create a letter hunt. Can they make any CVC words from their name? I spy with my little eye, something beginning with ‘a’. Enjoy alliteration together. (Sentences with a repeated sound at the beginning of several words.) Six, sizzling sausages sitting in a saucepan. Playing with Phonics at Home Play matching pairs with sound cards – choose 5 or 6 sounds to practise. Make 2 cards for each sound Letter hop scotch (use masking tape inside) Practise 6 sounds at a time. Write them in the squares instead of numbers. Phonics scrap book – cut out and stick pictures of things that begin with that letter sound on one page. Shoe box sorting activity – stick the letter sound on top of the box and collect items to go in it. |Or make several boxes and sort items into the correct box. Play with rhyme and enjoy rhyming stories together. Make up silly rhymes. ‘We can’t eat the jelly, it’s all gone smelly!’
