Adam and Eve • Genesis 3:8 • Hiding out of shame for what they had done • They took the presence of the Lord for granted. As a result, they lost it • The separation between God and mankind was introduced because man took being in God’s presence for granted – they wanted more
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego • Daniel 3 • Refused to bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar’s statue • Boldly declare that God is able to save them, but even if He doesn’t, they will not bow down - Daniel 3:16-18 • Jesus appears and stands with them in the fire
Moses • Exodus 33 • Moses was by his nature, unsure of himself • As he hiked up Mt. Sinai again, he needed strength to lead an unruly people • His face was lit up as a result of the Lord’s presence
Elijah • 1 Kings 19:4-13 • Elijah was at a profound time of weakness in his life • He felt alone, abandoned, and without strength • God reminded him of His awesome power, and gave Elijah help
The NT presence of the Lord • The Shekinah Glory announced the birth of Jesus – Luke 2:8-14 • Promises a time of refreshing – Acts 3:19 • Minister with unveiled faces – 2 Cor 3:13-18 • You are called and able to obtain that presence – 2 Th 2:13-14
So how do I get there? • Don’t take Him for granted. Don’t look to Him only when you have trouble, look to Him in the fun, in the everyday, in the always • Trust Him in the “fires of life”. Do not be moved • Bow down always, especially when you need His strength • When you need guidance and direction • Slow down long enough to hear
