Requirements and tuition vary Two and four year institutions Cannot legally discriminate, but generally is not restricted in setting admissions policies May or may not require exam scores May or may not require personal statements May or may not value talent over a high GPA
  25. Independent Colleges/Universities:Overview Many institutions make broad efforts to recruit students from underprivileged backgrounds Tuition fees tend to be higher than at public universities though many institutions offer financial aid (tuition range is $6,000 to $54,000)
