  1. IBM Smart Vision Suite Analytic AdministrationTask Overview Exploratory Computer Vision, IBM Research Security & Privacy Solution Engineering, IBM GTS fcmk@us.ibm.com

  2. Administrator Responsibilities • Admin responsibilities of PRPD / IBM Support • PRPD • Manage users and passwords • Disable / Re-enable Alerts if needed • Correct Camera Motion Detection errors • Correct analytics for minor camera movement • Define new simple alerts on existing cameras • IBM Support • Answer basic UI and Alert queries • Re-Configure / Re-Calibrate Cameras / Views after major changes • Manage SSE health • Respond to system problems

  3. Admin Overview • Most SVS Administration is done from a special SVS user account • User: pvadmin • Password: aru2gula • Admin account has different appearance than user accounts • Tabs you will be using:

  4. Managing User Accounts Create user account Change views user can access Change password See what views user can access

  5. Alert Administration – Enable / Disable Alert • Occasionally you may need to disable an alert to stop a “storm” of false positive alerts caused by a temporary event. • Wind driven rain on camera, unusual crowd, construction • Must remember to re-enable ! • There is no prompt or reminder that an alert has been disabled

  6. Camera Movement Detection (CMD) • Disables alerts when camera moves away from “home” position • Enabled on all PTZ cameras • Generates alerts when • Moves away from home • Returns to home • Every ½ hour while away from home • Occasionally CMD will make an error • Alerts will be turned off even when camera is in home position • Must be manually re-enabled

  7. Re-enabling Alerts on CMD Error Verify camera is at home position

  8. Managing Alerts

  9. Alert Administration – Moved Cameras • Alert RoU / RoI fail to align with logical image features • Minor movement • Often can just move / reshape RoI slightly, no parameter changes needed • RoU, Alert RoI, Scene Settings (object type), CMD (new Analytic Position) • Major movement • Major changes to alert may be needed, contact IBM Support

  10. Correcting for small camera position changes Click corners of RoI to reposition as needed Select RoIs and click corners to reposition Repeat for each alert

  11. Defining Simple Alerts • Alerts trigger when an object behaves in a specific way at some location in the image. • Alert Types • Motion Detection • Directional Motion • Abandoned Bag • Parked Car • Object Removal • Tripwire • Region Alert

  12. Motion Detection Triggers on any motion that fits size/duration constraints

  13. Tripwire Triggers when object center passes over line

  14. Directional Motion Triggers when object moves in region within range of directions

  15. Region Alert Triggers when object motion in region matches pattern.

  16. Abandoned Bag / Parked Car Triggers when object appears in region, stops and remains still for period of time.

  17. Object Removal Triggers when object which has been still in image for long time starts to move.

  18. Defining Alerts • Alert name & type • Region of Interest(RoI) • Alert parameters, schedule andaction when triggers

  19. Use Cases • Problems are defined in terms of “use cases”, not alerts • Speeding • Car stopped on freeway • Traffic congestion • Use cases get translated to Alerts • Speeding = Directional Motion or Tripwire with Object Type=car, speed as appropriate and other parameters to reduce false alerts. • Stopped car = Region alert with 1 car that stops for > 7 seconds • Congestion = Region alert with 4 cars that stay in region for > 30 seconds

  20. Video Quality Problems • The stream you see in Genetec is not the same stream as the Analytics use • Video quality problems on the analytics stream occasionally cause false alerts • A few alerts like this are normal • 3-4 / day on some cameras • If you see more than this, contact IBM Support to correct the video problem

  21. Analytics Health • Information about problems in the analytics software may be saved to the Health • IBM Support may request you gather health information for them • There is no need for you to monitor this information

  22. SSE Health Tab • Error / Warnings / Information messages from entire system (SSE, MILS) • IBM Support may ask you to get information from the health tab to assist them with debugging a problem
