Henry1 Beaucler • 1068-1135 • Youngest son of William the Conqueror • His daughter, Matilda, marries Henry V of Germany • After the death of Henry V of Germany, Matilda marries Geoffrey Plantagenet • William the heir of Henry I dies making Matilda the heir to the throne of England • Matilda is driven out of England by popular uprising. Stephen seizes the throne. • Matilda (mother of Henry II) never returns to England

Henry III • 1207-1272 • Inherited the throne at the age of nine • Grandson of Henry II, son of John and Isabella • Henry III was plagued by rebellion through the first part of his rein • His son Edward I (Longshanks) was the real power behind the throne for the last part of Henry’s rein.

Henry IV Bolingbroke 1367-1413 Henry Bolingbroke was the son of John of Gaunt and Balance of Lancaster Henry seized the throne from his cousin Richard II He faced rebellions throughout his rein He married :1. Henry VI • 1421-1461 • He was the grandson of Mad king Charles of France and suffered from bouts of insanity • He lost most of the land his father had controlled • He was the king during the time of Joan of Arc and the crowing of the Dauphin as King of France in Rheims in 1429. • He was murder in the Tower of London after Edward IV seized the throne

Henry VII • 1457-1509 • Married Elisabeth of York which ended the War of the Roses between the houses of Lancaster and York • Father of Henry VIII. First of the Tudor kings

Henry VIII • 1509-1547 • Best know for his six wives and the break with the Catholic Church • Henry married his brother’s widow , Catherine of Aragon, but divorce her after she failed to produce a male heir. • Married Anne Boleyn, mother of Elisabeth I. She was falsely accused of treason and beheaded. • Jane Seymour, mother of Edward. The wife Henry chose to be buried beside. She died in childbirth

Anne of Cleves, Henry found her to be physically repugnant and divorced her. She was rewarded for not opposing the divorce. • Catherine Howard, the cousin of Anne Boleyn, she was actually guilty of the treason of which she was accused . She was also beheaded • Catherine Parr. Was a widow when she married Henry. She nursed him in his reclining years.
