3. Behaviour & Expectations In our school we follow the St Joseph’s Behaviour Policy.
In our classrooms, we base our rules on the 5 C’s.
Our aims for the students in Year 7 are-
To encourage children to be responsible for their learning and behaviour choices
To have respect
To be part of a class family
To be prepared
To give their best
To be prepared for high school
4. Absenteeism If your child is away from school, we would appreciate a phone call to the office or a letter to notify the teacher the next day.
This is a legal requirement which will assist us in keeping an accurate record of absences.
5. Homework
6. Student Diaries Will be distributed next week
Students will need to bring them to school each day
Important dates, notes will be recorded
Diaries will need to be signed by a parent/carer each Thursday and be brought back to school on Friday with homework
The diaries can be used as a means of
communication between home and school
7. Assessment & Reporting Assessment – Children will take part in a number of formal and informal tasks throughout the year
Reporting – Verbal and Written
Verbal (parent/teacher interviews
take place at the end of Terms 1 and 3)
Written (report cards are handed out at the end of Terms 2 and 4)
8. Appointments You are welcome to come and talk with us at any time you feel the need to.
Please keep in mind, before school is usually our busiest time, so after school appointments would be preferred. (On Tuesdays we have staff meetings)
Appointments can be made either in
person, at the office, by letter, email or phone.

The NAPLAN tests for 2011 will be held from
Tuesday 10th May to Thursday 12th May 2011.
* Language Conventions incorporates spelling, grammar and punctuation.
** Numeracy incorporates Number, Algebra, Space, Measurement, Chance and Data.

14. Religious Education Term 1 Unit – Symbols, Images and Language
We celebrate special days such as Shrove Tuesday, Holy Week etc. and also have daily prayer celebrations.
Our school has a Sacramental Program available for families who have children that wish to make their first communion. Please see Tess Fong, for further details.
15. English Oral Language Program (more information to follow in Term 2)
Writing – work on a variety of genres, focus on grammar and punctuation, spelling strategies and the writing process. We are currently using Sound Waves in class as our spelling text book.
Reading & Viewing – Guided Reading, home reading, comprehension activities, SRA Laboratory
16. Mathematics iMaths Student Book – covering the Strands of Numeration, Chance and Data, Measurement, Space and Patterns and Algebra. Students will participate in investigations based on content learned in class.
