  1. ABC meeting:The Canonical Bodies of the Archdiocese of Wellington July 29 2011 Archdiocesan Pastoral Council Board of Administration Council of Priests joined by the DepartmentalDirectors of the Archdiocese of Wellington

  2. Archdiocese of Wellington Synodal Mission Statement We, the Catholic People of the Archdiocese of Wellington, challenged to follow Christ, are called to proclaim the Kingdom of God by: celebrating God in our lives, sharing our living faith, growing in community, and working for justice and peace.

  3. THE SUMMONS Will you come and follow me if I but call your name Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same? Will you let my love be shown, Will you let my name be known Will you let my life be grown in you and you in me? 1/5

  4. THE SUMMONS Will you leave your self behind if I but call your name? Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same? Will you risk the hostile stare Should your life attract or scare? Will you let me answer prayer in you and you in me? 2/5

  5. THE SUMMONS Will you let the blinded see if I but call your name? Will you set the prisoners free and never be the same? Will you kiss the leper clean, and do such as this unseen, And admit to what I mean in you and you in me 3/5

  6. THE SUMMONS Will you love the ‘you’ you hide if I but call your name? Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same? Will you use the faith you’ve found to reshape the world around Through my sight and touch and sound in you and you in me? 4/5

  7. THE SUMMONS Lord, your summons echoes true when you but call my name Let me turn and follow you and never be the same In your company I’ll go where your love and footsteps show Thus I’ll move and live and grow in you and you in me. 5/5

  12. Questions arising...2/2 • Ethnic diversity is a strength – if we allow it – How do we ensure all are welcome? • Social needs of some regions are very high –what does building the kingdom mean then? • How do our parishes and other catholic groups work directly with the families in our schools • Should our schools be the base for all catholic social services • How do we give “preferential option(s) for the poor”

  13. PROCESS What are the most important challenges/questions raised by the presentations today?

  14. PROCESS • Summary of the two main challenges: • Sharing resources (knowledge of) - Services, Finances...,etc How do we get people to respond - as Stewards? how do we open up the Common Good? Can (How) we consolidate? Providing preferential options for poorer communities • Creating multi - Ethnic/Aged communities = Best practice. How do we cross fertilise the "Faith Richness" of these communities with other groups? How do communities see self as giver and receiver?

  15. PROCESS How do we, as members of the three Canonical bodies and Directors of Archdiocesan Departments, respond to the challenges presented[by Paul, Jo, Fr Pat, Barbara and Regina]in the light of Stewardship?

  16. PROCESS • How should we share the challenge presented today with our pastoral areas (parishes, schools, Ethnic chaplaincies) • What practical suggestions/solutions would we offer?
