Approaches to ED $$$s • 2009 – 20% of pass through - $5.2M • 2010 – 20% of pass through - $5.4M • 2011 – 30% of pass through - $6.8M • actually have offers out for $8.8M • 2012 – 40% of pass through - $8.6M • just opened cycle 8-15-12
2011 Highlights • $8.8 million in CDBG awarded • 18 application submissions – including 5 resubmissions • 7 projects total awarded • 2 projects with over $3 million in CDBG assistance • $83 million in non-CDBG investment • Minimum 262 New FTEs / 134 LMI • Estimated 818 New FTEs / 418 LMI
New Approaches for New Jobs • 2011 – Legislative Session – removed $750,000 CDBG cap from Florida Statute • Waivers of State Administrative Rule imposing the $750,000 cap • Allowed DEO to fund larger amounts for larger projects creating larger numbers of jobs
Going Forward • 2012 – Minimum $8.6M for ED projects - an increase of 10% over 2011 • Strengthen Partnerships and Incentives Coordination • Expand our internal ED team • Pro ED revisions to Statute and Rule • Explore creative allowable approaches to using CDBG for economic development projects
