Contacts and networking Aim: Sharing know-how, experiences and resources Status: Chalmers, Demo Centre Modena and Fraunchoffer seeking funds to open a joint permanent rotating contact office at STP Novi Sad German Rectors Conference starting a Tempus project with UNS as a partner centered at developing a network of universities with established technology transfer institutions.

6. Business idea contest Aims: Making entrepreneurship better visible and developing instrument for preincubation at the University Task: Organizing a periodical technology based business ideas contest. Expect. result: Promoting valuable business ideas, encouraging entrepreneurship in the region Status: First competition successfully finished in 2003. NOSIC team currently in charge with Best Technology Innovation 05, a similar competition on the Serbian level. Novi Sad contributed 41 applications out of 346. A new competition targeted to assessing the potential for filling the Incubator in Novi Sad to be announced soon.

Mid-term objectives: Funding, VC Aim: Secure funding of the incubator and spin-offs (city of Novi Sad, MSEP, Vojvodina development fund, banks, Venture Capital (VC) funds) Task: Secure funding with particular consideration on Public-Private-Partnership models. Status: Legal barriers to introducing VC funds in Serbia. Banking system interested in immediate profits only.

12. Longer-term objectives: Attracting larger high-tech companies Aim: Secure ground for building premisses of high-tech (>8% investment in R&D) companies situated in a �Park�. Attract a brand name anchor company. Task: Envisage 2 ha near UNS with some 10 ha possible expansion in the case of success. Negotiate terms with a well-known company interested in leveraging the R&D potential of Novi Sad Status: To be done together with Novi Sad Government and partners from EU.
