Pride Comes Before A FallDaniel 4 Part 4 of Daniel… a Man of Vision
God’s Thoughts on Pride Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
The Root of Pride • Mark 7:20-23 • 20 And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”
The Root of Pride • Disregard for God’s Sovereignty (30) • Disregard for God’s Servants (27) • Disregard for God’s Signs
The Results of Pride • Broken Relationships-Horizontal & Vertical • Warped Perspective • Self-Centeredness • Unthankfulness
The Remedy for Pride • A Right Perspective of God • A Right Perspective of Yourself • A Right Perspective of Life
The essential vice, the utmost evil, is pride. Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness, and all that, are mere fleabites in comparison. It was through pride that the devil became the devil. Pride leads to every other vice; it is the complete anti-God state of mind. C. S. Lewis (1898-1963) “Pride is the only disease known to man that makes everyone sick except the person who has it,” Buddy Robinson. This morning is pride in your life turning the stomach of God in heaven? The path to change begins by confession of your sins to God (1 John 1:9) and conformity of your perspective to God’s perspective.
I Love You, Lord I love you, Lord, and I lift my voice To worship You; O my soul, rejoice! Take joy, my King, in what You hear; May it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.
