Competition • Occurs when two or more organisms need a limited resource (ex: food, water, shelter) • Can occur within a species, and between different species • EX: The seagulls competed for the same food resources.
Predation • Occurs when organism hunts for another • This ultimately results in the death of the prey Ex: The flashlight fish almost got Marlin and Dory!
Mutualism • A relationship in which both organisms benefit • Example: Sea anemone (provides shelter) and clownfish (provides protection)
Commensalism • A relationship in which one organism benefitsand the other is unharmed • Example: The turtles allowed Marlin and Dory to ride on them, however they got nothing in return.
Parasitism • A relationship in which one organism benefits and the other is harmed • Example: The Pacific Sea Louse feeds on the skin of fish, weakening and potentially killing them!
