  2. Agenda • Upcoming Renewals • NVivo • SPSS • Minitab • MATLAB • SAS • Microsoft Campus Agreement Renewed • New features • MS Agreement RFP for Reseller • Insight is selected • Software Assurance Renewals • McAfee Communication

  3. Upcoming Renewals • NVivo • Codes expected next week • Pricing remains the same for renewal • New Mac version expected • SPSS • Codes expire (warnings begin) on 7/31 • Codes hard fail on 8/30 • PO in progress, new codes expected 7/15 for testing • V. 21 to be rolled out with renewal codes. • New features (next slide)

  4. SPSS Renewal: New Features • Added four key items: • Virtualization • paid for out of additional use in FY13 • Location restrictions removed • Allows us to no longer request location information in self service (for all products) • Location records no longer required • Old records can be shredded • Delayed expiration to July 31 (one month free)

  5. Upcoming Renewals, Part II • Minitab • 8/1 Renewal should be invisible to customers • MATLAB • Pending IPEDS numbers, expected today or tomorrow • Requesting a review by The MathWorks to determine: • Do we need to expand toolboxes? • What is the cost of getting everything? • Cost share holders will make primary decisions on adding value • Additional cost share volunteers welcome • In other words: “Want it? Let’s talk about how we buy it.”

  6. Upcoming Renewals, Part III • SAS • Renewing the same products at similar rates • No cost increase expected FY14 • Seeking to have codes in hand Sept. 15 • Request in for v. 9.4 • EAS customers get versions differently than non-EAS customers. At this time, we do not know when 9.4 will be available to us. • New SAS versions require extensive testing; expect testing to take a month from receipt of upgrade

  7. Microsoft Campus Agreement • New Agreement expires 6/30/2018 • Assessment for FY13 has gone out • Assessments should be more regular going forward • New Features Include: • Virtualization of desktops to all students • Ability to add “all you can eat” licensing for SQL, Project, Visio, MDOP, and any other product • 5 Year agreement • Yearly price increases, but stable in years 1 and 2 • WiredOut to sell fac/staff/student personal use licenses for Win/Office at a deeper discount

  8. Microsoft Campus Agreement • WiredOut has taken over the student spend • Frees up departments to put student spend to another need • This is approximately $300k back to departments

  9. Microsoft Campus Agreement

  10. Microsoft Reseller RFP • Awarded to Insight • Some products can be bought on a per-FTE basis, if you prefer • Contracted pricing for FTE products:

  11. Software Assurance Renewals • If you have products under SA, there is a renewal window for that SA • Between June 1 and July 31, 2013 • If you don’t renew, you will have to purchase it new, which is more expensive. • Contact Insight to renew SA: The Insight IUC Team Phone: 1-800-805-3119 Email: IUCPG@insight.com Fax: 1-480-760-7644

  12. MDSN/TechNet Licenses • If you have MSDN or TechNet, your license expires on June 30 • Renew through Insight (see prev. slide for contact) • Then contact me (dangler.8@osu.edu and copy software@osu.edu) once your PO is cut and you get a notice that they’ve processed it • You need to be manually added back in

  13. Adobe • Current CLP in place until 4/6/14 • MHEC is working on an RFP for similar products • IUC is working on a letter with concerns • OSU has an offer on the table • Pricing, FTE percentages, Maintenance, and home use are big issues in the new contract offer

  14. McAfee Communication • Message will come from Michael Dangler, OCIO Site License Software, and have my contact info • It will inform customers of the end of support for McAfee and request removal by July 31, 2013 • It will recommend alternatives: • MS SCEP for any University machines • Security Essentials, Sophos Home, and ClamAV for home machines • It will direct customers to contact the IT Service Desk for additional assistance, or departmental support

  15. Questions/Comments • Next meeting July 31, 2013, 10 AM, 580 Baker Systems
