A year ago, the Theodor-Litt-School of Gießen and the Umberto I of Torino started anEuropean Exchange program between Germany and Italy.Now, in the second year of the exchange program, the students worked out a brochure, which is called “ Gießen: inside-outside” and includes different viewpoints and aspects of the German culture and way of life.We hope that this is only a beginning of a long partnership between our two schools. In mixed teams of Italians and Germans, we worked on topics like:Typical German FoodNightlife in Gießen Museums in Gießen Culture of HessiaNatural environmentFree time in GießenThis research is useful to let us understand how life of young people is here in Germany and how Italian and German traditions are different.Thanks to this work we get to know better our exchange partners and now we are looking forward to the second part in Turin…! Freetime Fitness In Giessen are many different fitness centres located. One of the most famous fitness centers are called Team WOF and the popular one Clox. Arnold Schwarzenegger was trained by the owner of the fitness center Walter Klock. Fitness is important for everybody to keep your body in a natural sporty condition.
Freetime Gießen-sports …has large choices of sport clubs …is nationally and internationally represented for example in basketball, handball, dancing, etc. Bäulke is the oldest Dancing school in Germany The town is also popular because of all the different kinds of sport clubs that you can find here, “golden dragons” are very well-known and everybody knows them. The football team “Golden Dragons” is very popular
Freetime • Gießen-culture and music • Schiffenberg is a place where jazz festivals take a important place as a musical event. • The “Stadttheatre” is a big theatre where popular people playing music or act a stage performance. • Museums give insights like: varied history, art, galleries and sculptures of internationally recognised artists. • “Karstadt” is a big shopping centre where you can buy anything you want, included music and technical stuff. • Schönau is a shop where you can play by yourself on an instrument. • “M.u.k.” means “Music and culture” where you can meet people and listen to life music.
